[ It's the 21st century and Peggy Carter still manages to pull out her 1940s fashion sensibilities and twist it into something chic and modern. People are obsessed with "vintage" these days and most people passing her — or Steve — by on the street have no idea just how vintage they really are. But regardless, when Steve says they're making the most of their day off, she thinks to prepare for long, luxurious hours spent outdoors and well away from laptops and cellphones and work in general. So she comes down the front steps of their Brooklyn walk-up ready for just that, all high-waisted trousers and nautical striped grace, sunglasses perched on her nose.
Her lips are, as always, a bold red and smiling as she surveys the good Captain Rogers and his motorcycle. ]
[ It's a beautiful Brooklyn day in early summer, the time of year when the city's finally rid of winter's chill but before it begins to bake like a giant brick-and-steel oven. It's not always the case that their days off and the nice weather perfectly align, and Steve would be damned if they didn't make the most of it.
He rarely gets the jump on his internationally renowned superspy girl, so at the question he just smiles, though it's swiftly hid by a helmet. ]
( the promise was greasy popcorn and street hot dogs, and steve never goes back on a promise. he arrives at bucky's apartment with two hot dogs (and all the fixings) and a bag of un-popped popcorn. while he was waiting by the hot dog cart, he texted bucky: )
You have a microwave, right?
( now, after being buzzed in, he stands in front of bucky's door and knocks. after thanos, when bucky was settling back into the city, steve offered to let bucky live with him. but bucky insisted he needed to figure things out in his own space and on his own time, and steve respected that. )
[ Of course he has a microwave. He doesn't have much else in his apartment, but he at least has a microwave. Decorating his apartment wasn't exactly at the top of his priority list when it came to acclimating to the new century, but at least the internet made it easy enough to have things delivered to his doorstep. Putting stuff together was another thing entirely, of course, which is why his hall closet might have two or three IKEA boxes haphazardly shoved in there.
Unfortunately, not having "much else" makes it harder for him to make it less obvious that he's been camping out on his living room floor. In the end, he shoves his blankets in the closet with the boxes and hopes for the best.
When Steve knocks, he opens the door, raising an eyebrow at him. ]
Do I have a microwave? O ye of little faith, Steve.
